The main purpose of the "Spectacular Taipei 2008 Photo Contest" was to promote all the various beauties Taipei City has to offer. Taipei citizens were encouraged to whip out their cameras, and head outside to put their creativity into use. Through the pictures, it allows everyone to view Taipei from multiple prospective, in order to attract more people to visit this spectacular city.

The contents of photos are including buildings, public artworks, public transportation, culture related activities, nature, big events of Taipei (ex. Fireworks, New Year Celebration).

The judges of the competition pointed out that many professionals also submitted their works, including a few extremely outstanding photos. Not only did they show the most amazing side of Taipei, they were successful in capturing the beauty, richness of the city, and also the friendly and colorful culture as well.
